Ecuador Coffee

Fri, Oct 2, 2015

Ecuador has been cultivating coffee since 1860. Bordering coffee powerhouses Colombia and Peru, Ecuador provides perfect growing conditions to excel as a coffee producer. In fact, it holds all the necessary conditions such as soaring mountain, volcanic soils, microclimate and extraordinary biodiversity to become a top player on the specialty coffee market.

Ecuador produces Arabica coffee in the foothills of the Andes mountain range and a low quality natural or bola on the Pacific Ocean coast on the province of Manabi. Most Ecuadorian coffee is grown on farms co-planted with divers fruits like bananas, mangoes, guava, avocado, a plethora of citrus, plantains, cedar and even cacao.

Cubico Coffee offers a coffee from a private farm named Finca Maputo located on the coffee growing province of Pichincha. Owned and operated by coffee entrepreneurs Henry and Verena Gaibor, this coffee makes the perfect balanced, sweet and juicy cup with a floral and tangy apple character. Despite it is grown at a lower elevation of about 1,300 m.a.s.l, the farm produces a high quality coffee that have won second place on a national coffee competition known as Taza Dorada.

Finca Maputo’s coffee has captured the attention of coffee connoisseurs and granted their owners the title of coffee innovators. In fact, just recently Roast Magazine mentioned their exceptional high quality coffee and positive work of Henry and Verena in renewing and improving Ecuador’s coffee industry.
