Colombian Coffee

Fri, Oct 2, 2015

Coffee is synonymous of Colombia. Known from its successful coffee organization and its popular marketing campaign featuring Juan Valdez, it is hard not to associate coffee with this country.

Founded in 1927, La Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia (The National Federation of Coffee Growers) is a nonprofit association that represents 500,000 of the nation’s coffee producers, most of whom are small farms owned by families. The Federation supports development by sponsoring research and grating funds to local universities and institutes. They monitor and promote production to ensure that quality standards are met.

Colombian Coffee is 100% washed Arabica coffee produced in the divers coffee growing regions. Because of their unique microclimates and processing styles Colombian coffee varies mildly from region to region. Chocolate, caramel, vanilla and tropical fruit flavors are common, yet the acidity intensity and velvety body might differ. Its latitude and altitude, its soils, its climate, its rain, its favorable temperature, its topography and luminosity leads to the production of a balanced coffee with an excellent quality and profile. Overall, Colombian coffee is big and rich, with a medium to high acidity and body, and a pronounced and exceptional fragrance.

Without a doubt this outstanding coffee is not only due to its quality, sensory, aroma and flavor attributes, but due to the union and constant effort and dedication of the Colombian Coffee producers and Federation who have cultivated a coffee culture to be proud of. They have worked and developed a story that narrates the coffee process form tree to cup.
